About Us

From craft clusters to contemporary homes, Daroonjinish is about building a kinder, more conscious way of living.

Crafted by Hands, Carried by Heart.

  • Rooted in Bengal.
  • Loved across the globe.
  • Powered by women.

That’s Daroonjinish.

Daroonjinish isn’t just a brand—it’s a bridge.
Between rural Bengal and the homes of the world. Between ancient crafts and modern design. Between women who create, and those who carry their stories forward.

Our journey began with a single question:
"How do we bring back the dignity of handmade?"

Founders Journey

From Melbourne to Murshidabad..

Daroonjinish was born from the deeply personal story of our founder, Founder—an Indian woman who spent over a decade in Australia, working across design, fashion, and social causes. But home, for her, was never far away.

Each time she visited West Bengal, she found herself drawn to the intricate crafts made by women in dusty village lanes—pieces that were beautiful but undervalued, made with care but sold for coins. One afternoon, standing in a local market, she saw a woman selling hand woven mats for less than the cost of a tea cup. That moment stayed with her.

"I realised that these women weren’t short of talent—they were short of visibility, voice, and value."

Founder returned—not just to India, but to her roots. She built Daroonjinish as a platform that could connect rural artisans to the global market. Not through charity, but through design, dignity, and direct collaboration.

Today, what started with one woman’s longing to give back has turned into a growing collective of craftswomen, conscious buyers, and communities across borders.

What We Stand For

We work closely with women artisans across Bengal—many of them single mothers, widows, or first-time earners. Each product is a reflection of their heritage and hands. We use natural, chemical-free materials, vegetable dyes, and follow zero-waste practices. Our collections span baskets, mats, folders, scroll-based Patachitra art, utility bags, and more—designed to be both functional and soulful.

But Daroonjinish is also about listening.
At every event or exhibition we participate in, we don’t just showcase—we engage. We speak to buyers about their lifestyles, their needs, and their stories. Every sale carries forward a circle of shared humanity. And a percentage of our earnings often goes to organisations that support women and children at risk.

Our work has received the support of the Australian Consulate in India, and founder was invited to speak at the U.S. Consulate in Kolkata, where she addressed the often-invisible challenges faced by Bengal’s artisans—disrupted logistics, economic marginalisation, and political instability.

“We’re not here to create for the elite. We want beautiful, well-made products to be part of every home—regardless of where that home is or what it looks like.”
— Founder, Daroonjinish
