Mats

Our sabai grass mats are coiled and braided by hand from a strong, glossy wild grass that grows on the forest fringes of Bengal. Each mat is sun-dried, dyed and woven by rural women artisans, so no two are exactly alike.

Choose from round plate mats and dining mats for everyday meals, tricolour and dotted designs for festive tables, and our one-of-a-kind sabai grass and Dokra metal mats with lost-wax brass centrepieces that work just as well as wall art.

Sabai mats are lightweight, durable and plastic-free. Wipe them with a dry or slightly damp cloth and keep them away from standing water. Read more about the grass in our journal, Journeys Through Materials.
