Because When Women Rise, We All Bloom: Why We Chose to Sponsor the Farmer’s Market by Desidera

In the quiet corners of Bengal, women still rise before the sun.
To weave. To stir. To work the land.
To keep alive crafts, recipes, and wisdom passed down not through textbooks—but through touch, texture, and time.

At Daroonjinish, we see them.
And we are them.

So when we were invited to sponsor the Farmer’s Market, curated with soul and purpose by Desidera—a marketplace curated by Luna and Sanchita Kushary Bose—we didn’t hesitate.
Because this event is not just a celebration of products.
It’s a celebration of people. Of women, especially. And of the dignity of making something with your hands and heart.

The Market That Mirrors Our Mission

Desidera's Farmer’s Market isn’t your usual urban pop-up.
It’s a deeply intentional gathering of brands rooted in land, legacy, and love. With more than 10 participating brands, many of which grow their own raw materials, this market is about slow living, ethical trade, and supporting women at the grassroots level.

Some of the participants include:

  • A woman-run dairy farm near the airport, where 14 cows are raised with care to produce ghee, paneer, and unsalted butter that tastes like tradition.
  • Tiny Loom, a brand launching a range of kidswear made from 100% pure cotton, with fabric so gentle it whispers rather than speaks.
  • Flora, a handmade cosmetics label turning 33 this year—possibly the first organic beauty pioneer in India since Shahnaz Husain—quietly reclaiming the word ‘beauty’ for women of all skin types and stories.

This is not a curated set of trend-driven brands.
These are stories.
These are women who are redefining entrepreneurship by weaving heritage with hustle.

Daroonjinish: A Story Woven in Sabai and Sisterhood

Our own story began in a moment of heartbreak and clarity.

Our founder, who had spent over a decade in Australia working across design, fashion, and community development, was walking through a rural market in West Bengal. Among the dust and noise, she saw a woman selling a beautifully handwoven mat—made from Sabai grass—for less than the cost of a cup of tea.

It wasn’t the price that hurt. It was the value that had been stripped away.

“I realised these women weren’t short of talent. They were short of visibility, voice, and value.”

And so Daroonjinish was born—not as a charity, but as a platform.
A way to return dignity to craft, recognise labour, and empower the hands behind the heritage.

Today, we work directly with women artisans across Bengal—widows, single mothers, and first-time earners—to produce handcrafted Sabai grass products: baskets, mats, folders, utility bags and more. We use vegetable dyes, chemical-free processing, and zero-waste techniques.

Every product tells a story.
Every weave is a thread of hope.

Why Sponsorship Felt Like the Right Role

Often, women-led brands like ours are invited to participate in markets.
But being asked to sponsor this event felt special.

It meant that our journey, our ethos, and our impact were not just seen—they were respected.
And we chose to sponsor not because we wanted to just lend our name to a poster.
We chose to sponsor because we believe in the mission of Desidera.

Desidera is not just a marketplace. It’s a launchpad for women-led brands, a digital amplifier for grassroots businesses, and a warm hand extended to those often excluded from traditional retail spaces.

They invite influencers not to create hype, but to create awareness.
They offer space not for profit, but for purpose.

A Salute to the Sisters in Soil

At Daroonjinish, we’ve seen what it takes to build a business from a village home.
To work between cooking and caregiving.
To weave between monsoons and market days.

We’ve seen the strength of women who didn’t study branding or marketing—but who know how to make a product with care, love, and quality no algorithm can replicate.

Supporting an event that brings together such women—dairy farmers, cotton weavers, herbalists, food makers, and artists—isn’t a corporate decision for us.
It’s personal.

It’s what we stand for.

Final Reflections from Daroonjinish

To Luna and Sanchita, and the entire Desidera team—thank you.
Not just for creating the Farmer’s Market, but for creating a culture of care.
Of conscious curation. Of inclusive commerce.

To our fellow sponsors, influencers, and partners—this is how we change narratives.
Not overnight. But over time, and together.

And to every woman out there who dreams of starting something from her home, her hands, her heart—
Know that your work matters.
Your story deserves to be told.
And you are not alone.

“Here’s to women who make magic with thread, soil, milk, and memory.”
Here’s to those who dare to make a difference—quietly, consistently, beautifully.
